When assessing roof’s it is sadly common that we come across popped nails on roofs.  What exactly does this mean and how can it be prevented? Popped nails can cause leaks!  One of the main reasons that nails pop, is because of poor ventilation.  If there is one thing that we see most commonly in poorly installed roofs, it is poor ventilation.  Here at Krumwiede, we take that very seriously and inspect the attic ventilation at every single roof estimate.  Especially in the climate in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, the extreme highs and lows of temperatures cause expanding and contracting.  This causes popped shingles, which will then allow water into your attic.  That is where the nightmare begins!  That is why it is so important to hire a company that inspects ventilation and makes it a priority to do it correctly so your roof will last years and years to come!
